Nokia and Springleap Team Up for “Pimp our Devs” Contest – and we are giving away a Lumia 800

Springleap.com and Nokia South Africa is launching an exciting design contest to source a fun, creative t-shirt design that will appeal to the Nokia Developer community and take inspiration from the recently launched Nokia Lumia with Windows Phone range. The contest invites designers from across the globe to illustrate what it means to be an app developer, offering a total of $2700 (R20 000) in cash prizes for the top 3 designs.

“œThe Nokia Lumia launch in South Africa has created a great deal of positive buzz. The phones are attracting attention from innovative developers who appreciate the Windows Phone technology blended with the design appeal of the Metro user interface,“ says Derrick Kotze, Nokia‘s Developer Marketing Manager. “œWe are eager to see this merging of innovation and design creativity in the winning t-shirt design.“

Designers are tasked with creating a t-shirt design that will instantly identify the wearer as a Nokia Developer or associate it with the brand, but to do so in a creative, self-interpretation of what it means to be a developer. Three important aspects need to be kept in mind as focal points for all designs: Lumia, Imagination, and mobile.

The “˜Pimp our Devs‘ contest is open for submissions on www.springleap.com at no cost from 17 April ““ 20 July 2012. Designs will go live for voting from 28 May ““ 27 July 2012. A design panel comprising of Springleap and Nokia members will choose 3 winning designs from the top 15 voted. Winners will be announced on 30 July 2012 via the Springleap website and social media accounts. We have already looked at some of the submissions, and it is clear there is some pretty creative designers out there…

“œTo be working with such an esteemed brand as Nokia is certainly a great opportunity for us. What better way than to engage our community in interpreting their passion for technology through a design contest themed around developers and the new Nokia Lumia handset. This is certainly a fantastic example of a forward-thinking brand honouring design, and therefore being honoured through design via our talented community of creatives“, said Catherine Ronaasen, COO of Springleap.com.

Springleap.com offers online design contests as stand-alone or integrated marketing and design solutions for brands and agencies, to source artwork for specific briefs, engage their target audience, create strong viral marketing campaigns, and empower designers through large cash prizes and exposure.
