Cell C announces new ‘Straight Up’ packages

In an announcement today, Cell C continues to offer its competitive prices in the local service provider market with the launch of six new packages for postpaid and top-up customers, My Broadband reported.

Called ‘Straight Up’, the offer will be available for all Cell C customers from 22 June that will range from R30 to R800.

Cell C CEO Alan Knott-Craig said that “œFor the first time customers can see exactly what they are paying for and select the package that suits them best. For instance when you buy a Straight Up 100 package, you get 100 minutes, 100 SMS‘s or MMS‘s, and 100 MB of data anywhere, anytime for R100.”

Customers will pay 99c/minute, with per-second billing, at any time of the day in any of the new bundles.

With the new offering, customers will know exactly how many minutes, MB of data and SMS’s and MMSs will be available in each bundle.

Cell C added that “œThe minutes in the bundle, however, exclude international calls. Calls to the UK, USA, China, India and Pakistan are billed at 99 cents per minute on per second billing any time, out of bundle. New international rates to all countries will be announced in the next few weeks.”

If a customer also wants a cell phone, it will be calculated depending on the time period of the contract selected. This includes 6, 12, 18 and 24 months to choose from so customers are no longer obligated to lock into a 24 month contract.

The total monthly subscription is then calculated by adding the handset’s monthly price and the contract’s monthly subscription fee together. However, if no cell phone is required, then a customer can sign up for a minimum of one month.
