    Snapplify: Award winning digital publishing solutions

    At Bandwidth Blog we are always excited about featuring new and innovative South African born startups and so it’s time to meet Snapplify. Snapplify was recently featured on a  list of startups to watch in 2013 and won the 2012 LaunchCapeTown Entrepreneurial Competition so, we decided to find out more about this award winning digital publishing solution.

    Of the win, Snapplify are “incredibly proud of our team and all the hard work they have put in. Our CTO, Jacques Millard, is aggressively developing and updating the technology and it makes us very proud when we see our innovation in mobile technology being rewarded the way it has.”

    Currently one of the largest iOS app developers in Africa, Snapplify allows content producers or distributors such as authors, artists, publishers, retailers and corporates to manage, distribute and monetise content in custom branded mobile applications.

    Snapplify’s technology enables publishers, authors, and content providers to sell their content in a globally accessible mobile app, downloaded via the Apple, Android and BlackBerry10 App stores. Because multiple publications can be placed in a single app, Snapplify is ideal for magazines, newspapers and books and with rich media, can be interactive as well. The app itself is company branded and the client has access to upload, edit, or delete content via an easy to use content management system from anywhere at any time.

    Launched in 2011, Snapplify was founded by Wesley Lynch who noticed a gap in the market when it came to mobile distribution and digital publishing. While a wide variety of industries are embracing mobile technology the publishing industry was doing so slowly with current options available being far too time consuming and expensive. Lynch wanted to offer the market an easy, affordable and DIY option.

    As with any new venture, even one as successful as this, it was not without its challenges. Lynch reveals that one such challenge was “Targeting a global audience which was initially difficult but attending international fairs and meeting the right contacts proved to be fruitful. Launching globally as well made a hug impact on how we did business and who we did business with.”

    Snapplify have done work for The Star, iMaverick, Rolling Stone, Getaway, SPi Global and Popular Mechanics SA.
