It feels like we have a serious case of déjà vu. As part of their latest advertising campaign, Samsung has come up with a few ads that mock their biggest rival, Apple. Again.
This time around Samsung takes on two Apple products – the iPad Air and the iPhone 5S.
Apple’s advertisement for their iPad Air focuses on how thin and light it is. It compares it to a simple pencil – the message being that great things have been created by a simple pencil and that great things can be created by the iPad Air.
Now, in Samsung’s version, they also feature a pencil. But instead of comparing the pencil to their Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, they compare it to the… iPad Air.
Samsung hammers on the fact that the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 is even thinner (by less than a millimeter) than the iPad Air and that the HD display is better. The Galaxy Tab features 299 ppi, while the iPad Air has 264

But wait, there’s more. In a different advertisement promoting the new Galaxy Note 3, Samsung brings in yet another Apple product; namely the iPhone 5S.
In this advertisement Samsung also ropes in basketball star LeBron James – or rather video footage of him in action. Once again, Samsung compares the Note 3’s huge screen (which obviously makes it better to watch video one) to the much smaller one of the iPhone 5S. It also shows off the ‘nifty’ stylus that comes with the Note 3.

Samsung seems to have crated a pattern here. Bashing Apple. Back in 2012, samsung released a series of ads that mocked Apple customers standing forever in long lines waiting for the new iPhone.
The company’s ad for their Galaxy Gear also replicated Apple’s first 2007 iPhone ad – almost to the tee.
However, Samsung is getting a helluva lot of attention with these ads – and surely thats the point of advertising.
Tell us what you think; clever advertising or a case of ‘jealousy makes you nasty’?
