Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 could bring a dual-camera array, embedded home button

A leaked Galaxy Note 8 dummy has revealed that Samsung might opt to include a dual-camera array an embedded home button on its next phablet.

Where Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 debuted with a fairly iterative design, the forthcoming Galaxy Note 8 looks to inherit an edgier, glassier design from its cousins, the Galaxy S8 and S8 +.

The news comes after an alleged Galaxy Note 8 dummy was spotted on Chinese blogging platform Weibo, wherein it is illustrated that the device could feature a vertically-aligned dual-camera array in addition to a dual LED-flash.

The changes further indicate something exciting for Samsung fans; the alleged dummy’s rear panel lacks a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, indicating that Samsung may have been able to insert an embedded fingerprint scanner and home button underneath or within the Note 8’s display.

The issue, which plagued the development of the Galaxy S8 and S8 +, resulted in Samsung issuing each device with an oblong rear-facing fingerprint scanner that controversially sits directly adjacent to the device’s primary camera.

It is rumoured that the forthcoming Note 8 will arrive with a 6.3″ display and will be powered by the same Snapdragon 835 chipset found within the Galaxy S8. Other additions include a large, hopefully less explosive 3,700mAh battery and, of course, Samsung’s premier stylus, the S Pen.

It is likely that we’ll see the Note 8 debut later this year at IFA in Berlin, which would equate to a September announcement date for the device. For parity, Samsung last year revealed the handset in August.

What are your thoughts? Would you be willing to purchase a Note 8 given the history of the Note 7? Be sure to let us know your opinion in the comments below!
