I would buy myself a PS3 with GOW3. Because when I got home I really need to let my anger go and with Cratos as my weapon Olympus will not have a change in hell to survive.

DOWN WITH ZEUS – we do not need your tendensies here!!

    • I would get a Samsung S27A550HS – 27 Inch LED Monitor as I need to buy one soon and it would be rad to not have to pay for it 😛

      • Charl Norman

I have one of those! It’s awesome

    • I would buy myself this Samsung LED TV from Dion Wired:

I’m a huge Samsung (and Android) fan, already having the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Tab 10.1. I love their products, and I feel it’s time to buy one of their amazing TV’s as well.

I’m a bit of a movie buff, and have a very big DVD collection. But since DVD is a dying medium, I have started to upgrade to Blu-Ray. Unfortunately, since this whole exercise is already costing a lot and will cost a lot more, I still haven’t been able to pick up the ultimate TV to take full advantage of my collection. This would put me light years ahead of the game, so I can finally watch my new Star Wars Blu-Ray collection as it was intended (and don’t have to go over to a friend’s who has an HD TV)!

May the Force be with you in your decision.

    • Rudi van der Walt

Ooo, I’d buy myself a nice and big solid state hard drive, like the Corsair 240gig or OCZ Agility 240gig 3 Series – that would be awesome! My wife’s pc has a solid state hard drive, and mine not – that’s clearly not fair!!! 🙂

    • I’d buy myself an iPad to take notes with in class. My handwriting is terrible and my ancient laptop’s battery will be dead before I even get to class!

    • Dennis Welcome

A PS3 with any Need for Speed game. So I can forget about all my problems, especially my 30 year old car that just died on me.

    • Grant

Definitely a Lexmark Printer from Makro (R1000), Ipod Touch from Makro (R2000), Docking station from DionWired (R1000), blu ray player from DionWired (R1000) and no change left ! but 4 AWESOME gadgets, that I really really need.

    • I’d buy my wife a new laptop(5 months married) or iPad. (The one she currently has is still running an Intel Centrino chip from from the Pentium era and at the moment the moment you unplug the cable it dies.)

With it she can prepare class notes and work from it during classes, show the school kids some videos and in general improve her technological abilities as well as the teaching experience for the kids.

    • Dale

I would get a new TV a flat screen and a new Phone… BlackBerry! I am setting up house so kitchen gadgets are also needed. And then I would get Mom a Laptop.

    • I would upgrade my Son’s computer to something that is not from the stone age and has… More than a single core CPU! It’s amazing the difference you get from dual/quad cores even when using simple applications. Perhaps even a laptop since the pricing on them is so good these days.

    • Rael Phillips

i would put it towards a macbook air, so that I may rid myself of my HP laptop

    • Nickfrench007

I would use it to buy an iPhone 4s (or at least subsidise the purchase) as I have been a strong advocate for Blackberry over the years. My Macbook Pro, My iPad, my iPod is all mac, why stilfe my gadget life with a Blackberry. I might just finally be succumbing to the allures of the iPhone after experiencing Siri.

    • Sarah

I would buy a iPhone 4s. I have this ancient Sony Ericsson Satio which has the street cred of my gran and the smartness of that dog in the Toyota ads. I can’t even use WhatsApp… Seriously. Its just embarrassing.

    • an iPad 3 , or next one to be announced, since my iPad 1 is seriously out dated now.

    • Anonymous

Let’s hear it for the GoPro HD Hero2. Will definitely be fun sharing off-road biking adventures and cross-country tours with the family and friends 🙂

    • Jalal

I’m stuck on Apple products! Help me! Help me to try something else! Help rid me of this addiction!

The problem that I have is that my conscience will not let me spend money on any device that is not an Apple. I have a fear that Android devices may not be as good as Apple devices.

I cannot risk paying for a device that I won’t be happy with.

This is a problem. I need to be cured of this need, this reliance,  this obsession with Apple. Don’t get me wrong, I love Apple, but there is more out there that I don’t want to lose sight of. Right now I am blinded by the fruit!

R5,000 would go a long long way towards helping me get an Android device. I would feel less guilty about spending the money on something else. Who knows, it may cure me. It might just heal my addiction! I’m thinking Galaxy S2, Note or even Tab. Something mobile, something Droidy!

Bandwidth Blog says the iPhone is a close second to the Galaxy S2? That hurts! I need to know why!

Please help me break this addiction!

      • Malibongwe B

I eat apples. Do you know how healthy I would be if I ate 5k worth of apples?

    • Lloyd

I could use a new chisel for my Vodafone. It might speed up my SMSing.

    • Kelly Levinsohn

Thanks for all the comments! We’re really enjoying reading them. Keep them coming!

    • Katli

A laptop with an i3 processor and about 320gb, not wow or anything along those lines, but hey, I’m starting up a business and I’m in need of one for business purposes.

    •  hmmm…. I would have to go for a Parrot AR, and a go-Pro. no question

    • I would get the Beats by Dr. Dre. Studio headphones for music production and protecting myself from my neighbours screaming kids…

    • jodie

I would love to buy my husband an i-pad. He has a really old HP laptop that has started to malfunction and I would love to spoil him with an ipad 2/3.

He always talks about the applications that you can get and he LOVES the design and the fact that he can take it and use it at work. We have only been married for 22days today so it would be a real treat 🙂

    • wayne

I would buy myself the apple airport extreme with the apple base stations to cover my house with wi fi signal.

    • Gideon

When this competition ends in April the iPad3 will already be out.
I can use the R5000 with small amount from my side to get my hand on one.
This can be my first ever Apple device and motivate me to start developing apps for iOS.

    • wayne

I would get myslef the apple airport extreme and base station to make sure my place is fully covered with wi fi signal.

    • VK

      What an awesome oppurtunity!!

This will be a great chance for me to buy my mum an iPad 2 or hopefully the 3!!

I have been trying to save every month to get my mum a laptop/ipad so that she can embrace the online generation! She would absolutly love the chance to be able to connect with family, friends and get back in touch!!

She has always done things for me and sarcificed, now this will be my chance to get her something she well deserves and say a small “Thank You”.

Thanks bandwidth blog and RCS!! 🙂

    • VST

I would buy all the apple fanboy’s a life…they really need one!

      • Yeah what suckers. They must be buying things that are poorly designed or offer poor user experience. Oh wait.

    • Perfect timing. I mistakenly left my 8GB ipod touch in a minibus taxi and shouted to the driver when I realised my error. Obviously the guy accelerated away when he realised I left something and I didn’t get his number plate either. Now I go into itunes on my PC and look longingly at all the apps I had. A perfect replacement would be the 64GB ipod touch and a clock radio/dock with the remaining R1000. I will be taking the train in the meantime.

    • Get me a GoPro HD Hero2 and i will send it around prominent dev shops around cape town so every dev team can demo their working environment.

    • Samuel

I will probably get an iPad, version 3 ideally, and an iPod dock for my Ipod Touch

    • Just H

Since I never owned a gaming console, I would buy the Star Wars special edition Xbox.

    • wayne

Ill buy airport expresses for my house as well as the airport extreme

    • Bruinou

Easy. iPad2 or Vodaphone Smart Tab 10. (Samsug Tab is overpriced) Best bang for your buck, netbooks are a dying fad and laptops are being replaced by ultabooks. The tablet is the laptop of the future, getting more powerful evey generation and best of all ULTIMATE portability. You can work, play and learn all at once. Nuff said!

    • Jane McGregor

All I would really want is the Samsung Galaxy S2.  I am a huge Android supporter but my current phone has seen better days and not due for an upgrade.  Pretty pretty please…. 🙂

    • Sthando Mack

I work as a PA and i currently have the most unexciting outdated phone ever, its one of those phone you buy for R200. its always an emberessment when i have to answer it at social events or business meetings. my family and friends have been bugging me to buy a new one but i just have not had the chance to buy myself one - Samsung Galaxy S2.

    • iLive iLove iLongfor but I also realize that this being the BUDGET Speech day I don’t have   a TRILLION to spend on a gadget and unlike some of our government departments I am going to stay within BUDGET! so 5k I think I would have to GoPro. GoPro HD Hero2 Outdoor Edition, and at about 4k! You can give the other 1k to someone else to make there dream toy/gadget a reality! You only live once… so I am all for documenting it … in full color.. and I think this toy will keep up with me and my mates ..  and with the cool mounts ill attach it to almost anything .. I am ready to man up … and play ..

    • glen collingwood

O my!. All these comments sound so knowlegable If i won you would have to give me lots of advise. I would love a really nice laptop or one of those really smart galaxy things .

    • Anonymous

I’d buy myself a PS3 with an HDMI Cable, Extra controller and Fifa12. I think that comes in at just under R5 000. Had to sell my PS3 a year ago, my life hasn’t been the same since 🙁

    • OMO

Finally – can replace the nagging of my wife with the touch of a IPAD

    • JB

I would like bandwidth, bandwidth and some more bandwidth and actually only bandwidth cause I have an RCS card already and I already bought everything I need with it, so now I need the bandwidth 🙂

    • Riyaad

Wow, N-I-C-E! Great opportunity & definitely not to be missed! I’m not 100% sure about the price (I’m willing to pay the difference if need be) but the BlackBerry Curve 9380 is really appealing right now. Why? Well because I’m a gadget freak who has been looking for the perfect balance between OS technology, secure messaging & UI friendliness. When it comes to messaging, BlackBerry rules hands down! I tried the Samsung Galaxy Ace (just to get onto the ‘Droid side) and that didn’t work out too well. That touch screen was too finicky amongst other little nibbles! That said, I moved back to my beloved BB and well we all know (link below) that they’ve released the BlackBerry Curve 9380 as a full touch screen device. It would really be awesome to get my hands on one these for testing my software and improving my daily grind..maybe even the world – who know?!?

All hail to Bandwidth Blog, RCS… (and BlackBerry of course hee hee)! (“,)

    • I would love to get the Asus Transfomer Prime – it looks great, has all the mobility of a tablet and the keyboard accessory if necessary, as well as Android ICS to go with it… And that come in just under R5000 🙂

    • Shu

I so need a laptop of my own so I hope I win 🙂
Like the Lenovo from Makro for R5k….

    • dmurrayn

I would buy an iPod Classic 160GB, because the one I had was stolen, and I ‘ve got a very big music collection which I like to have on hand. Maybe the iPod Classic is a bit dated by now, but there’s nothing else that can do the job. And I would match it with a 2TB Western Digital WD My Book Live Network Desktop 3.5″ External Hard Drive because I’ve learnt to take backup very seriously.

    • Dorian

I would buy a pair of VR glasses so I can play on my PS3 next to my wife while she watches Greys Anatomy on the TV.

    • Sara

I would definitely buy myself a good camera. I am a freelance travel writer who, unfortunately, does not have a camera that takes photos which can “tell a thousand words”. I would love to have a camera which will take photos that I can publish with my articles.

    • samantha

I would love the CANON – POWERSHOT SX40HS BRIDGE CAMERA and CANON – POWERSHOT SX40HS BRIDGE CAMERA. Its been a long time dream of mine to take up photography but camera’s are expensive! Photography will be a great way for me to express a creative side as my job isn’t very creative. With a camera in my hand the world be my oyster to capture great moments. What could be more special than capturing a moment in time.

    • moon

I would buy the DELL – Dell M5040 E450 for R4500  AND A LOGITECH – C310 HD WEBCAM for R4 500 from dion wired. We have the most ancient computer at home. It is over 10 years old. It has crashed twiced resulting in us losing lost of valuable memories like photos. Part of the computer hard drive got damaged by the movers when we moved house. Its super super slow which makes working on it a mission. We cant even surf the net because using our phones would be quicker. I would love to get this notebook as it would make using a computer fun again. I would like the webcam because I have family going overseas and getting to skype with them would be awesome.

I have also been trying to start to write a book but obviously my current computer situation does not inspire much writing. Please make my dream come true!

    • sheila

So I am going to be completely like everyone else and say I want the new ipad. I need an ipad. I dont want to be like the kid who sold his kidney fro an ipad and iphone. So please buy me an ipad! Its the cool gadget that you can take pictures on, take notes, watch series in bed, skype, listen to music, surf the net, read ebooks. Its small and portable. I have been coveting it since forever! I dont own any apple products but this would be a great start.

    • Thabo

      So who is the winner????

      • Kelly Levinsohn

RCS will be selecting a winner tomorrow so we’ll let you know as soon as we can! Good Luck!

    • Kendres

Definitly i would want the new fifa 12 football game or a 40 inch LG HD TV or 21 LED monitor/Canon Video Camera

    • Simply, getting an iPad 2 would be epic, next year I’m off to uni and I’d be saving massively if I could get all my books on an iPad. From what I’ve heard almost every student has some form of tab with them in class and this would be ideal to get a head start for Uni. I don’t really care how big it is, if it’s 3g or wifi, or where it’s from. The fact that someone is backing me with my studies would be substantial enough. Engineering all the way. It’s just logical.

    • Kelly Levinsohn

RCS has informed us that they are picking the winners as we speak! Watch this space…

      • Isn’t that what was said at the end of last week as well? 🙂 Everyone is excited to hear the announcement.
