Nokia has issued press invitations for the official reveal of its flagship smartphone, which is slated to take place on August 16th.

HMD Global (the power behind the resurgent Nokia brand) has thus far been in the unusual situation of leading one of the most anticipated revivals in mobile technology, but also not doing terribly much to differentiate itself from a litany of budget Android rivals.

The marque’s big chance, then, is now scheduled for reveal on August 16th this year, wherein the brand will debut its flagship Android phone in what is tipped to be named the Nokia 8.

Of course, we have some inkling of what to expect – not only has HMD Global confirmed that it will breathe new life into a partnership with claimed optics brand Carl Zeiss, but purported details on the exact makeup of the Nokia 8 have leaked as well.

While the 8 isn’t anticipated to bring the sexy sheen of the Galaxy S8 or the design we’re expecting the iPhone 8 to have,  the handset is tipped to bring with it a dual-camera array with 13-megapixel sensors and Carl Zeiss optics.

That’s in addition to a reported 5.3″ QHD display, a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and dual-SIM capabilities.

For the style conscious, the Nokia 8 is expected to arrive in a premium copper-gold colour to appease fashionistas around the world.

The handset’s reveal is set to take place on August 16th at 11:30AM Pacific Time, and we’ll be tuned in to see Nokia’s next frontier first-hand.
