HTC’s U11 Life surfaces, may come in a translucent finish

HTC’s U11 Life is tipped to arrive as a new Android One champion, and may hit store shelves in a unique ‘translucent’ finish.

Although HTC’s prospects seem relatively dim in the mobile arena, the Taiwanese firm continues in its attempt to crank out the hits – and according to rumour, we may yet see two new devices based on its flagship U11 in the form of the U11 Plus and U11 Life.

The latter is on the news table today, as new rumours have suggested that the handset could be the newest member of Google’s burgeoning Android One family, which was recently supplemented by the arrival of Xiaomi’s Mi A1 which runs stock Android.

The handset has been pictured in earnest through an apparent leak provided by Roland Quandt, which shows off a more conventional design that echoes the finer parts of the U11.

In terms of specs, the U11 Life is tipped to arrive with a Snapdragon 630 SoC, 3 or 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of native storage, and a 1080p display. The handset will apparently further include 16-megapixel front and rear cameras, a 2,600mAh battery, and Android 8.0 Oreo at launch.

The U11 Life is further expected to pack in Edge Sense, Amazon’s Alexa, and HTC’s USonic earbuds.

Perhaps one special feature that might well entice consumers is the presence of a ‘translucent’ back panel – smartphone tipster Evan Blass has asserted the finish will arrive adjacent to more conventional black and silver offerings. It remains uncertain as to whether the device will merely have a transparent rear panel, or whether it will employ some form of depth effect.

The U11 Life is expected to retail for the approximate fee of €369 EUR, and is expected to hit store shelves on the 2nd of November.
