    Google Street View for SA

Good news Google Maps fans. As part of Google’s efforts of being ready for the onslaught of soccer fans next month, Google is launching Street View for South Africa on 25 May.

You might have seen the Google Street View cars – normally Toyota Prius’s driving around with large cameras on top of them. The area in which Street View will launch is the following:

    • Johannesburg
    • Pretoria
    • Cape Town
    • Port Elizabeth
    • Durban
    • East London

Google also took the time take photograph some other areas in SA including:

    • Chapman’s Peak drive
    • Table Mountain
    • Soccer City
    • Moses Mabhida Stadium

    So keep your eyes peeled…

    • This is great news. I have just done a blog post about it too, explaining how to use Google Street View South Africa, and what exactly it is.
Can’t wait for Google Street View to be released for South Africa, it works very much like the 360 degree panoramic Virtual Tours we have been creating in South Africa for years, put the 2 together, and you have magic!

Hi Im a big fan of Google earth and maps. I read last Thursday May 20, that Google is launching Streetview on the 25 of May but they didnt. I have been cheacking every day for it. If there was a delay, I undersstand. Now if there is a new set launch date, Im not sure weather to believe them. It is said that it is going to be launched before the worldcup, if so time is running out because Im sure there are plenty of tourists waiting for streetwiew to launch.
