Microsoft has revealed that a new Game Mode will arrive on Windows 10 with the upcoming Creator’s Update, that will optimize PCs for increased gaming performance.
While Windows 10’s upcoming Creator’s Update will bring new tools for artists and designers, Microsoft has revealed that the update will include a new Game Mode for the purposes of refining gaming performance in PCs around the world.
A report issued by Xbox Wire reveals that Windows 10 Game Mode would be introduced in an Insider Preview next week, while Microsoft has issued that Game Mode would revolve around for key themes:
“…Streaming, Performance, People, and Competition. We‘ll make it easier to stream than ever before, by making Beam a feature on Xbox One and Windows 10. We‘ll improve the performance of your PC games through the all new Windows Game Mode.
Our vision is for Game Mode to optimize your Windows 10 PC for increased performance in gaming. This is a big update for Windows; we‘re looking forward to Insiders getting their hands on this new feature for further testing.“
The move is the latest part in a string of offensives by Microsoft to promote Play Anywhere; the feature which lets Xbox users play games – including formerly exclusive Xbox titles such as Gears of War – on Windows 10 PCs.
While the move has diluted some of the exclusivity associated with certain Xbox titles, Microsoft has correspondingly made it easier for developers to craft apps for the Xbox and the larger Windows ecosystem through Windows Universal Apps.
