New reports suggest that Xiaomi’s forthcoming flagship – the Mi 6 – might arrive in three configurations, where one edition could sport an Edge display.
While Xiaomi put great effort into turning heads with its ambitious Mi Mix concept device that has now entered production, the device we’re really waiting on is the Mi 6.
As the follow up to last year’s Mi 5 and later the Mi 5s, Xiaomi have reportedly brokered plans to release three different flavours of the device.
Reports indicate that Xiaomi could release a cheaper version of the Mi 6 that would run on a Helio X30 processor and a price tag at the equivalent of $290 USD, while the middle version could sport a Snapdragon 835 SoC at $360 USD.
The last version would reportedly sell for $434 USD, and would use a curved display similar to the one found on Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge.
The revelation that Xiaomi has plans to release three different versions of its flagship device would marke the first occaision in which the brand has proceeded to split its premier offering across three different tables.
Should rumours surrounding Samsung’s planned introduction of a Galaxy S8 Plus prove true, the move to introduce three new Mi 6 models might represent Xiaomi’s bid to pinch Samsung’s device sales.
Presently, there’s no indication on when we can expect to see the Xiaomi Mi 6 on store shelves; it is likely, however, that we could see the device revealed at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year.
