Nokia’s new 3310 has landed in South Africa

Nokia’s new 3310 feature phone – produced by HMD Global – has officially landed in South Africa as of 29th of May and will be available from local networks.

There’s nothing quite like a whiff of nostalgia, and HMD Global’s decision to steer the Nokia brand towards a modern-day reboot of the legendary Nokia 3310 has certainly captured our imagination.

In good news, then, the handset has officially landed in South Africa as of today (the 29th of May) and will be available from local networks.

In terms of specs, the 3310 isn’t a showboat; the device arrives with a piddly 0.016GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB through a MicroSD card. A 2.4? colour display debuts with a 240 x 320 display with a 167 ppi pixel density.

The device benefits from a 2-megapixel primary camera for moments that can’t go uncaptured, and boasts Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB support.

Of course, the major talking point of the device is undoubtedly Nokia’s claims of 31-day battery life (in terms of standby time) which amounts to 22.10 hours of talk time. If that wasn’t enough, the 1200mAh battery – as on the original 3310 – is user-replaceable.

The new 3310 will be available from Cell C as of the 29th of May for R749 ZAR and will be available in Dark Blue Matte. MTN is expected to adopt the handset in mid-June, where the device will be available in Red, Yellow, and Dark Blue Matte for R699 ZAR.

The handset is further set to become available from Cellucity and Technomobi from mid-June.
