The newest flagship from LG has just hit stores internationally this week and will be on our shores soon, but they have already announced new variants of the leather-clad G4.
In addition to the LG G4, they Korean company are also taking aim at Samsung with the new G4 Stylus. As its name suggests, it also has a Rubberdium pencil for writing and other input with the screen, just like its target ““ the Galaxy Note 4.
Similarly, it also has a 5.7-inch display for more room to take advantage of the new stylus. Unfortunately, the hardware is slightly downgraded in terms of specs from its G4 brother. The 16 MP camera is replaced with a 13 MP unit. The screen also has been reduced to a full HD display (1080p) rather than the Quad HD display on the G4. Other than that the spec sheets are pretty similar.
There is also a truly stripped down version of the beefier G4, called the G4c. It has a 5-inch HD display, a 1.2GHz quad-core chip and a vanilla 8-megapixel camera that loses LG’s much-trumpeted laser auto focus feature. The battery is also smaller at 2,540mAh, shrunk from the 3,000mAh on the G4.
We‘re not extremely excited about the G4c, but very curious to find out what exactly is possible with that pen on the G4 Stylus. Can they truly take on Samsung in a market niche that they own? Only time will tell.
