LG is not leaving a lot to announce at the IFA 2014 trade show. They have taken the wraps off of their circular smartwatch, called the G Watch R (presumably for “˜round‘).
According to LG, it is the first “œwatch-style“ wearable in the world. It will be using a P-OLED display, and will be utilizing 100% of the watch face for the screen. Motorola‘s reluctance to thoroughly explain the need for the small black bar at the bottom of the Moto 360 does seem to be costing them now.
The G watch R has a 1.3-inch display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 4GB of storage and 512MB or RAM.
The UI should also be quite familiar by now, as it will also be running Android Wear. There‘s support for the optical heart rate sensor feature in Android Wear built-in to the watch, too, for the fitness buffs.
The only details still missing is pricing, though we‘re sure it will be a bit more expensive than the G Watch, which is $229.
