Leaked Nokia 9 renders show off an edge-to-edge display, no headphone jack

    Nokia 9 renders

New leaked renders have outed the potential design of the flagship Nokia 9 – revealing a glass-heavy handset with no headphone jack.

Though it seems that the Nokia 8 is destined to be the epitome of the Finnish brand’s mobile efforts for 2017, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill interrogating exactly what the premium Nokia 9 could look like.

According to rumour, Nokia (under HMD Global) will augment its smartphone lineup by debuting the Nokia 2, 7, and 9 to complement 2017’s Nokia 3, 5, 6, and 8. If those numbers are too confusing, it might be easier to say that the Nokia 9 is the smartphone that we’ll have our eyes trained upon.

New CAD renders have potentially outed the Nokia 9’s form factor – a further confirmation of the edge-to-edge display and glass back that we’ve seen in previous leaks.

The images, supplied by @OnLeaks, show off a handset that iterates on the Nokia 8’s Zeiss-made rear lenses, and eschews a 3.5mm audio jack port in favour of USB Type-C.

Supposition cites that the 9 will feature a 5.5″ curved display with a QHD resolution, while the smartphone’s rear chassis will sport a rear-facing fingerprint scanner – a change of pace from the front-facing unit present on the Nokia 8.

Given that Nokia has confirmed that all of its new smartphones will be eligible for upgrade all the way to Android P, it is likely that the smartphone will debut with near-stock Android 8.0 Oreo on board at launch.
