HTC has officially joined the 18:9 arms race with the U11+; its newest premium powerhouse which arrives with an optional translucent finish.
Though HTC remains the king-turned-underdog of the mobile world, that hasn’t stopped the Taiwanese brand from continuing to crank out new efforts – and today we’re treated with the new U11+.
As its name might suggest, the U11+ is one of two iterations upon the squeezable U11 that debuted earlier this year. The key difference between the standard and newer ‘+’ model is the presence of a taller 18:9 display – a first in HTC’s smartphone lineup.
The U111+ ships with Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable internal storage, and a large 3,930mAh battery. The smartphone (expectedly) debuts with Android 8.0 Oreo with HTC Sense, and further features the same Edge Sense functionalist as the standard HTC U11.
Perhaps the standout feature of the U11 is not anything technical – the smartphone will ship in three colour variants, namely ceramic black, amazing silver, and a new translucent finish that will show off some of the device’s innards.
The U11+ is slated to be a premium affair, and is set for a €799 EUR price tag in Europe. The handset, interestingly enough, is not expected to sell in the United States.
The device follows suit with HTC’s other mobile developments, including the U11 Life which arrives as part of Google’s Android One program.
