Fashion marque Guess has attempted a second shot at the wearable market, with two new smartwatches flying under the Connect banner.
Did you know Guess made a smartwatch? We wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t – the company’s first smartwatch, dubbed the Connect, was a forgettable affair – but now the company has redoubled its efforts and summoned forth two bringers of bling in the form of two new wearables which bear the Connect badge.
Guess’ new Connect smartwatches arrive in two sizes; there’s a 41mm version designed with ladies in mind, while gentlemen are assigned to a larger 44mm model.
Both watches are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, which powers Android Wear 2.0 – Google’s revised wearable operating system which we feel might actually provide the wearables we were promised years ago.
Guess clearly values young, early adopters – the company describes itself as recognizing “the importance of providing smart, hi-tech value on the wrists of their young, sexy, and adventurous consumers.”
The fashion marque has clarified that its new wearables will launch later this year, and as such it hasn’t provided a spec sheet nor confirmed pricing.
The company will compete with other brands that have dipped their toes into the smartwatch scene; Tag Heuer arrived on the stage with its Connected Smartwatch in November of 2010, and other firms have expressed their interest as well; Fossil recently acquired Misfit in a bid to enter the wearables market.
