Google has begun advertising a special event on October 4th, where the Mountain View company may showcase the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL for the first time.
Apple may have just stolen headlines around the world with its reveal of the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, but Google seems ready to fire back with new marketing billboards advertising a special event to take place on October 4th.
Billboards placed around Boston, Massachusets tease a simple line – “ask more of your phone” – followed by Google’s ever-present ‘G’ logo. Google has been widely reported to be developing a follow-up to last year’s Pixel and Pixel XL with the (apparently) named Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
Leaks and rumours thus far have indicated that the Pixel 2 is slated to bring a 5″ display with a 1080p resolution. The handset will apparently powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC, and will carry 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage under-the-hood.
The Pixel 2 is expected to once again carry a single 12-megapixel camera with EIS (electronic image stabilisation) in favour of OIS, and will apparently do without a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The handset will apparently debut with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, and will bring with it both USB Type-C support and an IP68 rating.
In terms of design, the Pixel 2 is reportedly being manufactured by LG – meaning that the handset might include both a design inspired by the recently launched V30 and an 18:9 display.
