Google debuts its first Apple Watch app

Ever since the launch of the Apple Watch, more and more software from the world‘s biggest companies have made its way to the Watch OS in the form of various apps. Many have announced their intentions to launch an app for the Watch (while a couple have already released one).

As you can imagine, no one is ignoring the existence of the Apple Watch ““ even its biggest competitors ““ as it became the best-selling smartwatch in history in its first couple of hours of becoming available to the public. It must sting, then, when you‘re Google and have to acknowledge in a big way that your apps specifically designed for Android Wear needs to make its way to the Apple Watch as soon as possible.

Google‘s News & Weather Apple Watch app is a personalization-encouraging news app, similar to Google News on the web and has debuted on the Apple Watch. The app lets you swipe through headlines, as well have a look at the articles‘ header images. However, you won‘t be able to read even an excerpt of the article (which is still the biggest problem with most smartwatches).

There aren‘t many features available at this stage on the Apple Watch app, which is as much a limitation of the device than anything else, but we hope to see more exciting developments in the next couple of months.
