First “frame-less” smartphone launching this week

Sharp has just teased an upcoming announcement that we can expect today, 19 August, and we‘re intrigued.

It takes something real interesting, unique or new to make the world sit up and notice these days, as phones have become quite generic. Unfortunately, Sharp is only expected to enter the US market, and of course it‘s native Japan.

Sharp’s Aquos Crystal X looks pretty standard on paper ““ a relatively normally “˜specced‘ flagship device. The Aquos Crystal X, which will remain a Japanese exclusive for now, is the flagship version of the phone – it’s upgraded to a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 CPU clocked to 2.3GHz, 2GB RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 2610mAh battery.

Just look at it, though! The phone is immensely striking from all angles, but even more so because they are bezel-less. And not just extremely small bezels we‘re seeing from LG and Xiaomi, they are nearly non-existent!

It will be announced today and reportedly it will launch within the week.

We don‘t often see striking smartphones these days; this is one of the few. What are your thoughts? Do you like to idea of no bezels on your device? Let us know in the comments below.

For me, my phone is still a commmunication device, not a fashion accessory. I couldn’t care if it has a bezel or not. Just make them cheaper!
