Afrihost has announced its plans to offer Xiaomi devices such as the Redmi 2 and Mi 5 alongside staggered bundles of free mobile data.

While the #DataMustFall movement has brought the price of mobile data in South Africa under scrutiny and larger mobile networks continue to battle it out, smaller ISPs have begun their assault on South Africa’s internet economy by offering their own take on pay-as-you-go contracts. The newest offering comes courtesy of Afrihost, who have announced a new product plan centered around Xiaomi’s devices.

Yes, I would. But I wouldn’t say the data is free though. If these were the lowest prices in SA, coupled with the free data, that’d be a perfect deal!

      • @simbamudondo:disqus Indeed – were I looking for a new smartphone, I’d be interested in taking this offer up for the benefit of having the Afrihost SIM as a second SIM. Hopefully the prices will drop slightly as Xiaomi continues to come out with new devices – I hope that the Mi 5’s price will be the first one to do so!
