Following on from leaks surrounding the brand’s upcoming Idol 4 and 4s, new Alcatel packaging will double as a VR headset.
For those of us in the tech world, what to do with leftover product packaging is a constant dilemma. While companies such as Huawei and Apple attempt to make the unboxing process as dramatic as possible, future Alcatel packaging will go one step further and serve as a VR headset.
Alcatel’s Idol 4 and Idol 4s leaked earlier this month, and now, thanks to new reports from PocketNow, it would appear that the Idol 4s’ packaging will double as a VR headset not unlike Google Cardboard.
The headset itself looks to be of a high-quality, and continues Alcatel’s design language into the makeup of the product itself.
The move is an interesting one from Alcatel, who previously have made use of mundane packaging across their product lines. The headset marks an interesting point in the smartphone world, where in future handsets may come bundled with VR headsets.
