    WhatsApp may soon allow users to send any type of file up to 128MB

    A new rumour has revealed that WhatsApp may soon allow its users to send any kind of file weighted up to 128MB on the service.

    If you increasingly find yourself sharing more than text messages, images, and video on WhatsApp, you may soon be in luck – a new rumour has cited that the service may enable a feature to allow users to exchange any kind of file type up to 128MB on iOS, 100MB on Android, and 64MB from a desktop PC.

    The news follows other reports that indicate WhatsApp is presently testing some interesting new features in limited circles; such as recent news which indicated the platform may soon allow users to recall messages that have been delivered, but not yet read.

    WhatsApp presently does not support all file types, which is a source of frustration for users who would prefer to use the platform as their vector to distribute different kinds of files for varying purposes.

    @WABetaInfo cites that a limited number of users can presently access the feature, and that those with the ability to send any file type are restricted by a slow upload speed at present.

    WhatsApp presently allows users to send PDF and Office (.doc, .xls, .ppt) documents, which are easily read on most smart devices. The update, however, will enable users to send any kind of file format so long as the file itself is not larger than the limit imposed per each respective operating system.

    • The iOS and Android users can now rejoice because WhatsApp has ventured into the aspect allowing users to send files of any type. The users can say goodbye to the earlier annoyance where some files were not supported for transmission at all.

      • Indeed! I hope the size limit is reduced on the desktop as that’s how I primarily use WhatsApp!
