DocScanner S now available on Android after success on iOS

DocScanner S launched on iOS some time ago, but recently it has really started picking up steam. Because of this, the developers have now launched the Android version of the app, after 1.5 million downloads on iOS.

For those of you that haven‘t had the opportunity to use it on iOS, the app essentially captures an image of a physical document and then converts it into a high quality JPG or PDF file for digital viewing. These days we tend to back up everything digitally, and it‘s a much better solution than having to physically scan everything using an office printer or personal scanner at home.

If you use cloud storage like Dropbox, iCloud or Google Drive for these kinds of backups, it makes even more sense. There is a free version of the app, so you can give it a try without having to couch up your hard earned cash. You can buy the full version for $3 if you are so inclined, with the only difference being that the free version leaves a DocScanner S watermark on your PDF documents.

Have you used it on iOS, or even on Android since launch? How do you rate the app?

    • Any idea how it compares to CamScanner?

      • Theunis Jansen van Rensburg

Hi Steve. I don’t think there is any need to change apps if you are already using CamScanner. The functionality is mostly the same. There have also been reports that the free version of DocScanner S isn’t working 100%, with a notice coming from the developers that it is still in beta phase. I haven’t had any problems with it, and the text enhancement is pretty good.

    • The DocScanner S is superior in two ways

      1) It has matchless, industry leading image processing that produces extra clear & sharp PDF documents. The difference in image quality is more than clear, if you compare it to any other document scanner app on Android.

      2) The DocScanner S scanning process is ultra-fast! Why? Because DocScanner S automatically post-processes the captured image to a PDF document. No need for time consuming manual adjustments after scanning.
