Bottles, a new mobile app from South African Software House, is an on-demand delivery service that will get alcohol to your doorstep in 60 minutes.
You can already order food online and even swipe left or right for a significant other, so why can’t we get alcohol delivered to our premises timeously? That’s the premise behind Bottles – a new app from South African Software House which gets alcohol to your doorstep within 60 minutes.
The app forms part of a new on-demand delivery service that caters for alcohol as well as other drinks and mixers, which has begun operating in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, and has a planned expansion to Durban in the pipeline.
In similar style to Uber, the app is based on a cashless transaction in which users can register their credit card details and be billed once their order has been delivered.
Delivery within 60 minutes – which is subject to traffic conditions, naturally – is organized through a retail partner network which ensures your selection is purchased from retailers local to your area. Certain retailers will require a minimum order of R150 ZAR, and your order may be subject to delivery fees.
If you’re in the mood for something other than alcohol, the service will also deliver cigarettes and snacks to users who are over 18 and can present their ID card or book upon delivery.
Orders can be tracked from within the app, and the bill can be split among a number of users so long as they’re registered to the service.
Bottles is available on both iOS and Android, and is presently servicing Bryanston, Dunkeld, Fourways, Melville Northriding and Rosebank in Johannesburg, as well as Bantry Bay, Camps Bay, Sea Point, and Woodstock in Cape Town.
UPDATE: Bottles has expanded to Durban, and now services Umhlanga, Mount Edgecombe, La Lucia, Durban North, and La Mercy. Operating hours are from 8am-8pm, but are dependant on the area of service.
