The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple plans to unveil new iPhone models at its Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park on September 12th.
Apple has had the dual task this year of placing the finishing touches on its new Apple Park campus and defining an all-new iPhone, and now The Wall Street Journal reports that these two avenues could intersect through an official unveiling at the company’s new Steve Jobs Theater.
According to insiders, the move could be a lofty or unlikely one – given that Apple Park remains under construction and the timetable towards completion might well jeopardize any potential unveiling at the company’s new theater.
The Journal cites that its sources have clarified that though the company has, in the past, used the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, the firm might well have to use the venue as construction at Apple Park might well push any potential event at the Steve Jobs Theater to a later date.
Apple is expected to release a bevy of new products and updates at its September event this year – not least a new iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, but further a new model dubbed either the iPhone 8, iPhone Edition, or iPhone Pro.
The Cupertino company is expected to further release a new Apple Watch Series 3 model alongside a 4K-capable Apple TV, and updates to its major operating systems through macOS High Sierra, iOS 11, tvOS 11, and watchOS 4.
Should Apple commit to a September 12th date for its event regardless of venue, MacRumors expects new iPhone models could begin to ship internationally between 10-11 days after the announcement – marking a potential September 22nd release for the company’s new products.
